ARTICLE I
NAME
This committee shall be known as the Merrimack School District Planning and
Building Committee.
ARTICLE II
OBJECTIVE
This committee is established to assist and work with the Merrimack School
Board in their planning and building needs and in other areas of mutual
concern.
ARTICLE III
COMMITTEE
-
The committee shall consist of six members, each member serving a three
year term.
- Two members of the committee shall be elected each year at the annual
school district election for a term of three years.
ARTICLE IV
OFFICERS
There shall be a chair, assistant chair, and secretary of the committee. They
shall be elected on the first meeting of the committee after the annual school
district election.
ARTICLE V
DUTIES OF OFFICERS
- The chair shall preside at all meetings, shall appoint such sub-committees
as needed for the coming year, shall prepare a report to be published in the
annual school district report, and shall carry out such other duties as are
assigned by the school board.
- The assistant chair shall be in charge and responsible for meetings in the
absence of the chair.
- The secretary shall be responsible for notifying the members of the place
and time of meetings, keep attendance records and minutes of the meetings.
ARTICLE VI
MEETINGS
- The committee shall meet at its own discretion or at the call of the
school board.
- The committee may hold special meetings at anytime at the call of the
chair or any three committee members. There shall be at least three days
advance notice of the meeting.
- At all general meetings, a majority of members currently serving shall
constitute a quorum.
- Unexcused absence from three meetings by any committee member during the
year between annual school district elections shall be equivalent to
resignation and said resignation shall be acted upon at the next regular
meeting. Absences will be considered excused if prior notification is given
to the chair or the superintendent's office.
- Vacancies on said committee shall be filled by said committee to serve
until the next annual school district election. If the balance of the term is
more than one year, the vacancy shall be put on the next school district
ballot to fill the unexpired term.
- The school board shall be advised of all meetings of the school district
planning and building committee in advance.
ARTICLE VII
AMENDMENTS
These by-laws may be amended by a majority vote of members present at any
regular or special meeting called for that purpose. Notice shall be sent to
all members at least seven days prior to such a meeting with a copy of
proposed amendments, alterations or repeals, subject to ratification at the
next annual school district meeting.
