Configuring Inbox for MULTIPLE Mail Users in EARLY Win95 ONLY

Windows 95 includes a mail reader called Inbox (Microsoft Exchange Client v4 or greater). Earlier version did NOT include internet mail access. A software upgrade to a later version is available on the Microsoft homepage under ,Free Downloads'.

This system allows you to have multiple email accounts setup on one system. Note: Later version of Windows 95 and Windows 98 replaced this with a program called Outlook Express, which has the same features BUT IS SETUP COMPLETELY DIFFERENTLY.

To setup Outlook Express, please read that document from this web site.

Configuring Inbox for multiple users
--

Note: You MUST have installed MicroSoft Exchange Client during system
installation. To verify if you have installed it, look for an icon on
your desktop called 'Inbox'. If it is not there, it must be installed to
continue.

To Install Microsoft Exchange Client (If needed)

O	Select START>Settings>Control Panels>Add/Remove Programs>Windows Setup
O Select MS Exchange and install it per system instructions. Your
Win95 distribution media MUST be available during installation.
Your Inbox must also be configured for internet mail services.
This is included on the PLUS! kit from Microsoft or with an addon
from Microsoft that can be downloaded from their web page
called 'Inetmail.exe'. It is also included with the latest MS
Exchange Client kits. Installing one of these is REQUIRED to
	access Internet mail services.

Setting up MS Exchange

o	Run Inbox wizard per ISONE or Win95 instructions, this will setup
	the FIRST mailbox
o	Double Click INBOX. This will open the user you created.
o	When it is running, select Tools>Options. On the General tab,
halfway down, select the option 'Prompt for profile to be used',
	click OK, then EXIT Inbox.
o Double Click Inbox again.
o	You will now be prompted for a profile to be used, click the
	'NEW' button.
o	On the next window, select 'Internet Mail' for the services to
	use, click 'Next'
o	Next Window, enter a profile name. This can be anything, but
your name for the user works best, then Click 'Next'
o	Select Modem for connection to the network, click 'Next'
o	Select the ISONE dialup connection preference, click 'Next'
o	For mail server name, enter 'mail.isone.com', click 'Next'
o	Select 'Off-line' for mail transfer preference, click 'Next'
o	Enter the users EMAIL address (username@isone.com) and Full name,
	click 'Next'
o	Enter your USERNAME ONLY, in lowercase letters, leave the
	password field blank, click 'Next'

The next 2 questions deal with files to store the mail in on your local
system. These MUST BE UNIQUE to allow mail to be stored separately for
different users.

o	For Personal Address Book, remove the default of:
	'C:\Exchange\mailbox.pab' and enter 'C:\Exchange\username.pab'
where username is your ISONE username. Click 'Next"
o	For Personal Folders, remove the default of:
	'C:\Exchange\mailbox.pst' and enter 'C:\Exchange\username.pst'
where username is your ISONE username. Click 'Next'
o	For question about automatically starting Inbox, Select, 'No, do
not add it to the startup group', click 'Next'
o	Click 'Finish'
o	Click 'Cancel' on Profile screen. You must restart Inbox for
	setting to take effect.

Note: Due to a bug in some versions of Inbox, every time you create a
new profile/user, ALL users might receive the 'Welcome' message over again.

To use different defined user in Inbox

o	Run Inbox
o	Select username/profile to run. The user selected will be used
	for this inbox session.

Note: To change user, you must exit Inbox and restart it.

To REMOVE a profile:

o	Select START>Settings>Mail and Fax
o	Select 'Show Profiles' button, all profiles will be shown
o	Select the profile to Delete, click 'Remove', Confirm delete.
o	Click 'Close'

For more information on usage or installation, please see the documentation
supplied with your Exchange or Windows 95 kit.

Note: Multiple users are also supported by Netscape Communicator v4.01 or
greater and Pegasus mail, both available on the ISONE FTP site.
