| Installing the software |
| ISONE makes no warantees as to the fitness of the programs installed in the 'ISONE Internet Connection'. These programs are shareware and appropriate fees should be paid by the user. You may use the supplied program, WS_FTP, to access the ISONE archives for other programs. The archive, called ftp.isone.com, is preloaded in WS_FTP. Other Internet applications and documentation can be found there. |

The installation has installed common internet applications. A brief
description follows:Netscape - Browse the 'World-Wide Web'. This application allows you to look at 'pages' of information Trumpet Winsock - This is the application that dials ISONE and connects you to the internet. Eudora - This application allows you to send and recieve Email or Electronic mail from people all over the world. Your email address is your account name from the first sheet, with the phrase '@isone.com' appended to it. So, if your account name is joesmith, your EMAIL address to tell people is 'joesmith@isone.com' FreeAgent - Keep up on over 6000 discussion groups ranging from hobbies to computers! You select the groups you want to monitor. You can post questions to the groups or just read them. WS_FTP - When ready, you can connect to literally thousands of computers containing FREE software! This program will retrieve these files for you. WS_FTP comes preconfigured to allow connection to ISONE's FTP server where hundreds of other internet applications reside. EWAN telnet - You can login to other computers using this program. Access hundreds of online games, such as MUDs (multi-user dungeons), etc. Setting up Trumpet Winsock When complete, you will have a program group called 'ISONE Internet'. Open it if not already opened and start the program called 'Trumpet Winsock'. Under the 'Dialer' menu, select the item '1. setup.cmd'. Please verify the ISONE phone number and account name are correct and enter your password shown on the first page of this sheet EXACTLY AS SHOWN! Upper/lower case is significant! Under the Dialer menu, select 'Login..' The program will dial out to ISONE. When you see the message 'PPP ENABLED' (or SLIP), you are online!!!! Leave Trumpet Winsock running. You may minimize it though. |
| Troubleshooting Installation |
If the modem does not dial, you may have 1 of 2 problems. The first
is that you set the wrong 'COM' port during installation. Please verify you answered the questions correctly. If not, exit Trumpet and reinstall the software. The other type of error involves modem usage. If any other application requires the modem (Fax receiver is a good example), it will grab the modem when Windows starts up. You must disable the application using the modem for Trumpet to use it. Setting up your NewsReader (FreeAgent) Double click the 'FreeAgent News Reader' icon, the program will load to an 'almost' blank screen. Under the menu item 'Online', select 'Refresh New Groups List...'. A dialog box will appear asking about how to retain certain groups. Select 'Delete extinct groups'. At this point, FreeAgent will load the internet news/bbs groups currently available into your computer. This process might take a while, as there are over 6000 groups available!!! Select groups you would like to monitor by double clicking them and selecting 'Subscribe to group'. NOTICE When you are done using the internet, please make sure you select the 'Trumpet Winsock' application and pull down the 'Dialer' menu, select 'Bye' from the menu. IF YOU DO NOT, YOU WILL REMAIN ONLINE AND BE BILLED FOR THE CONNECT TIME! Again, thank you for joining us! If you have any problems or questions, you can call us, or send us EMAIL at 'problems@isone.com' |
