10/18/99 Authentication failures in MASS/NH due to hacker

Users are reporting authentication failures. It was traced to our hacker friend using up all our space on our authentication server causing the server to stop accepting logins. We have cleared the space, implemented the DOD CERTS for external access and plan to install a better firewall on Saturday.

10/10/99 Authentication failures in MASS/NH

Users are reporting authentication failures. It seems to be a problem in the new authentication code used by a network supplier. It has been reported and a trouble ticket opened. We are working on rerouting the dialups to a different network.

This has been repaired

Users are reporting authentication failures. It seems to be a problem in the SPRINT network. We are working on rerouting the dialups to a different network.

8/11/99 Authentication failures in MASS/NH

This has been repaired.

A router in our facility in Quincy, MA. is undergoing emergency maintenance. This impacts all local access numbers in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Users on those numbers will be unable to authenticate or utilize network services. We will provide updates as information becomes available. We anticipate a quick resolution to this issue.

5/18/99 Authentication failures in MASS/NH

We have experienced a hardware failure that is impacting our customer's ability to authenticate through our local access numbers in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. This is the result of a router failure in Boston. Our Network Administrators are working on this issue but have no estimated time for repair. We will provide updates as soon as we have more information. Fixed as of 5/19/1999

5/11/99 All day, continuing

Bell Atlantic is having problems with all lines to most ISPs in Mass and NH. The problem has been determined to be a high-pitched sound on the line, causing disconnects and slow connect speeds.

As of 5/12, the problem seems to have partially been fixed, with users reporting higher speeds and longer connects.

This is all fixed.

4/30/99 1:22am to 11am

Bell Atlantic had a major High Speed line outage. It has been corrected.
It affected all of New Hampshire and all dialup authentication
services, since they use the NH servers to valifdate user names
